The Urbana Pops Orchestra board is a group of dedicated volunteers who care about music, music education, and the City of Urbana and its neighboring communities.  Board members assist with  fund raising;  coordinate grant-writing opportunities; brainstorm ways to creatively collaborate with other groups and individuals;  and  plan for the future of the Pops.   If you're interested in joining, contact Debra Levey Larson at

A Word From the President

I feel so proud to be involved with UPO since its "birth" in the summer of  2010. I'll never forget entering Lincoln Square Mall  during the evening of the group's second rehearsal and thinking, "Wow, they sound great! We've got to start promoting this concert!"

From its beginnings, UPO has set itself apart with a three-fold mission:

  • to offer concerts for free or affordable ticket prices,

  • perform pops repertoire from Beethoven to Broadway,

  • and to provide educational opportunities to student musicians,

This ensemble gratefully acknowledges its support from Urbana Park District and Urbana School District #116, many local business partners, and generous individuals who we like to call our "Pops Stars."  Over the years, UPO has received grants from the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois and from the City of Urbana Arts Council.

I hope you'll be able to come to a recital or concert this year and enjoy clips on YouTube.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation and becoming a Pops Star!
